Glazing workshops
You want to learn to make glazes yourself and truly understand them. It sounds simple; you read a good glaze book or browse online. For some ceramists, that's enough to get started in the glaze lab, but many still suffer from “glaze threshold anxiety.” They are unsure where to start, afraid of failed results or damage to their work and kiln.
Step out of your comfort zone and attend a glaze workshop. You can learn to use, test, check, and develop glazes. I'd be happy to show you how it's done in one of my workshops. You're sure to find a course that suits you and is organized near you.
Is a glaze workshop for me?
If the answer to several of these questions is yes, then taking a glaze workshop is definitely recommended!
- You are open to acquiring theoretical knowledge about glazes.
- You're eager to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with practical exercises.
- You're icing now but have so many questions.
- A bit of math and a touch of chemistry won't scare you, provided you have good guidance.
- You are curious and can't wait to discover the progress made.
- You have mountains of baked biscuit work that you're afraid to start.

I am Sofie
As a former scientist and full-time ceramicist, I've been developing glazes since 2016. What started as a hobby in my small basement studio has grown into a passion that I've fully immersed myself in.
In 2024, I wrote the glaze book "Glashelder" about glaze, of which more than 2500 copies have now been sold.
I've been teaching glazing since 2019, and it's truly one of my favorite things to do. Sharing my passion in manageable knowledge and showing ceramicists that they too can learn to make glaze is what I love doing most.
Invite me!
I mostly give glaze workshops on location in Belgium, the Netherlands, and beyond. Do you have your own studio and are you interested in organizing a glaze workshop? Custom workshops are also certainly a possibility. Feel free to contact me for information and prices.
